Whether you’ve undergone one of our effective skin-tightening treatments, such as Ultherapy, or you’re not experiencing the ravages of time just yet, you’ll want to read this article.

I know you’re not going to want to hear this, but your mom was right.

No, not about that your face sticking like that. And not about that boyfriend in high school (well, maybe).

She was right about you needing sunscreen and covering up when you’re outside, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. And here’s a good reason why you should finally listen to her: those sun’s ray break down collagen and prematurely age skin.

The sun emits UVB and UVA radiation. UVB radiation exposure is what causes sunburn on the outermost layer of the skin. If you’ve suddenly become a lobster, that’s thanks to UVB. UVA radiation exposure reaches deeper layers of the skin, damaging collagen and elastin and making you more prone to wrinkles.

And this advice (to cover up and wear sunscreen) isn’t just to help you look better longer.

Beyond aging your skin or undoing the results of a recent skin-tightening treatment, there can also be some serious health effects caused by continued radiation exposure. I’m talking skin cancer.
