If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then gravity must be her enemy. Sagging skin is one of the most common complaints we hear at Skintherapy.

Skin tightening usually comes about as the result of collagen production and the skin becoming more elastic. While the most effective way to encourage tighter, more elastic skin is usually an in-clinic procedure, there are some things you can do at home to tighten skin and maximize results.

When most people think plumper, more youthful skin, they think of moisturizers, and that’s a good start. Products with Retinol, Vitamin C serum, and alpha or beta hydroxy acids are go-tos when it comes to addressing sagging skin at home.

But beware, not all moisturizers are created equal for every skin type. A poorly matched moisturizer can clog pores and will be dollars spent that don’t result in skin tightening. My advice? Skip the beauty aisle at the drug store.

Here are two in-home products we offer that can help boost your in-home care routine:

  • Neocutis Nouvelle Retinol Correction: This skin care product fights signs of aging and can help tighten skin with the help of Retinol. This cream reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and signs of photo-aging, and enhances the look of skin firmness and smoothness.
  • Vi Derm: This product features Retinol and Vitamin C to combat sagging skin. It also includes ingredients Azelaic and Glycolic Acids to strengthen skin structure and suppress future pigmentation, and Green Tea and Coffee Berry to rejuvenate skin texture and minimize wrinkles and fine lines.

Feeling overwhelmed? We can help select the product that will work best for you and your skin type. Just schedule a complimentary consultation.

Of course, one of the best ways to prevent sagging skin is to stay out of the sun. Nothing breaks down your skin’s elasticity better than UVA and UVB rays from your jaunt to the beach or a trip to the tanning bed. But if the damage is already done, schedule that consultation to maximize your results.

If you are using a product with Retinol, then remember that this will make your skin more sensitive to sun exposure. So, break out the hat and the sunscreen for outdoor time.

Sold on an in-clinic procedure? I highly recommend going with Ultherapy, Laser Genesis, microneedling, or a VI Peel to achieve your skin tightening wishes.
