It may sound strange but, sometimes, when I see a raging case of acne, I’m reminded of that Beatles’ song, “With a Little Help from My Friends.”

That’s because you often need to lean on your friends to get through a tough time, and the same holds true for treating acne. A single change in your at-home routine or a one-time acne treatment is not necessarily going to put a stop to acne vulgaris. So, you have to enlist the “friends” of a powerful treatment.

Of course, I have a list of my favorite stand-alone treatments for getting rid of acne, which you can read about here.

But sometimes these treatments, such as the HydroFacial and VI Peel, could use a little help from their friends.

HydroFacial

Acne has a hard time standing up to a water fight. HydroFacials are one of my go-tos for acne, and it perfectly primes your skin to fight acne at its core.

HydroFacials combine cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection. Acne is an infection, and if your skin is as clean as possible, it’s hard for it to thrive.

It’s the HydroFacial’s cleansing, exfoliation, and extraction that gets your skin ready for the next level to fight acne. The treatment can be repeated twice a month.

In between treatments, use Topix acne line at home to maximize results.

VI Peel

VI Aesthetics offers two different methods for treating acne: the in-clinic VI Peel and the at-home VI Derm serum. These methods can be combined for a successful campaign against the red bulges plaguing your look.

The VI Peel contains TCA for deep-scar healing, phenol for cleansing, salicylic acid for exfoliation, Retin-A to combat wrinkles, and vitamin C for antioxidant and exfoliation. Peels can be repeated every four weeks to address a serious issue. A series of three to six treatments is usually needed for acne remediation.

A 2007 study found that salicylic peels, such as the VI Peel, had more sustained effectiveness than other chemical peels.

For daily care in between those peels, VI Derm Complete Care for Acne Prone Skin blends several scientifically tested and potent ingredients to exfoliate and renew skin, and fight common culprits of whiteheads, blackheads, cysts and oily skin.
